CRD Launches Public Engagement on Transportation in Southern Gulf Islands
The Capital Regional District (CRD) is gathering public input into a Southern Gulf Islands Transportation Integration Plan, and they want to hear from you! Visit the website, and check out the many interactive features, including a survey and community mapping tool.
What's it all about?
The goal is to develop a plan for an integrated transportation service model that supports walking and cycling networks, public transportation options, and passenger ferries to supplement travel services on and between the largest Southern Gulf Islands: Galiano, Mayne, Saturna, and North and South Pender Islands, with possible links to Salt Spring Island or Sidney on Vancouver Island.
Why is the CRD doing this project?
Residents have asked the CRD to support the community buses and provide transportation alternatives that advance community goals of sustainability, livability, and mobility throughout the region. In 2018, the SGI Community Economic Sustainability Commission requested the CRD Board create a Transportation Commission to achieve this.
How do islanders provide input?
