Southern Gulf Islands Transportation Integration Plan
In March 2021, the Capital Regional District initiated a project to develop a Southern Gulf Islands Transportation Integration Plan (SGI TIP). The Plan will create a blueprint to move from ideas to action for new transportation opportunities on and between the largest Southern Gulf Islands: Galiano, Mayne, Saturna, and North and South Pender Islands (with links to Salt Spring Island and Sidney on Vancouver Island).
The project goal is to develop a plan for an integrated transportation service that includes walking and cycling networks, viable public transit options, and passenger ferries to supplement travel between the islands.

The SGI TIP will build on past studies and consider a new CRD service to advance community goals of sustainability, livability, and mobility throughout the region.
